I ate the remainder of pizza on my plate with haste, my eyes were hurting from the glare of the computer screen. I was in a long online poker tournament, that promised to go on for awhile; I was losing. Finally, with a stroke of luck, I managed to get a three of a kind of Aces. I instantly raised my ante and waited for others to fold; they didn’t. Unperturbed, I continued the raising game with ignorance, until I realized that if I lost this hand it’d be game over. Quickly and with technological speed only an online poker game can have, everyone went all in with their Custom online casino games Poker Chips.

The unfortunate aspect of online poker games is that before you’ve made your choice, you can’t look at other players reactions for reassurance, only the cold beep of a confirm button. Slowly, the hands across the digital table were revealed, and I quickly realized I was alone; over half the players had better hands. I slammed my fist onto the desk and swore, promising I’d never play online poker again. This was the 21st game I had lost, and that was just one too many.

I told my coworkers the next day, and they looked at each other and laughed. By the look in their eyes, I could tell that they were veterans of recreational poker. I told them I was addicted to online poker chips, but then they told me I needed to feel a real one.

They kept laughing at me for days on end. Though there were friendly little love taps, I started to get aggravated, I always thought of myself as a real poker player. With a joking tone that had a hint of offense, I told them that maybe they’d like to have me take them down at their own game.

In no time, I was sitting there hunched waiting to be initiated into my first real game of poker. They threw over my chips and I picked one up; it felt wonderful. It was called a 11.5g World Poker Tour Casino Poker Chip, and every component of it screamed quality. The 11.5g World Poker Tour Casino Poker Chip came in black, blue and red, priced for one or in sets of 100, and each had a beautiful shiny finish. I loved the look and feel of them, and I still do.

The Poker Game felt a lot slower than when I played online, but more genuine. No longer did I suffer the impatience I felt when a player left his computer desk; instead, I had human players right in front of me. I felt like I was a part of a game, rather than just a participant. Moreover, I was having fun with my Casino Grade Poker Chips.

Now I’m part of a somewhat large poker group and I’ll never go back. I haven’t started up my poker program since, considering I have no need for it anymore. Those Internet accessed tournaments were a joke compared to the unbridled excitement one actual game of poker provides. Soon enough, I’ll be as good as my new friends, but until then I’ll cherish my 21st loss with my Clay Casino Poker Chips.

Full Tilt are almost done pleading for their license
by Tuesday,4 Oct 2011 Full Tilt poker are currently in a closed hearing with the AGCC to find out whether they can continue operating The Full Tilt Poker scandal finally seems to be coming to a close. It has been an on going process for months with former players absolutely furious about the way that the once mighty poker site has disposed of their money. Now Full Tilt Poker are sitting before their regulator the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) in a desperate attempt to convince them to renew their gaming license so that they can continue to operate. It is unlikely that their gaming license will be renewed, it was the AGCC who suspended the license that they had already given Full Tilt after an investigation uncovered fraud, money laundering and a host of other white collar crimes. The original licensing hearing to decide whether or not to give the stricken site their license back and allow them to continue operating. It is difficult to see a scenario in which Full Tilt Poker will be able to return to their former position as the second largest online poker site on the Web. All of their players have been unable to play poker on the site for months, nor have they been able to access their money and have been defecting in droves for other poker sites. The statements made by Tiltware have failed to convince fans that there is any hope for them to get their money back and in fact have led to even more worries in many cases as they utterly failed to address the concerns held by players. As time went on more information about shoddy business practices emerged such as the way in which certain players were lent millions of dollars in order to carry on playing, these were players funds and they would like them back. Class action lawsuits have become all the range on the North American continent as the US department of Justice as well as various private individuals have taken to suing the errant firms controlling Full Tilt for their cash. In Canada alone the suit is for $150 million, it is unlikely that Full Tilt will be able to find the money with which to pay these suits should the courts find against the poker site. Although the hearing is happening behind closed doors it has been three days without any word at all being leaked and the rumour mills have been in overdrive.

Jamie Gold Poker
by Thursday,6 Oct 2011 Jamie Gold has started his own free poker site on the ZEN network with $100,000 up for grabs every month Although all poker players and those who work in the industry are well aware of the name Jamie Gold he has worked hard to keep a low profile since winning the $12 million first prize at the 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP), still the biggest prize ever paid out to a winner of the main event. Gold is a quiet and highly focussed player who up until now has refused any and all attempts to persuade him to start a poker site of his own. Now he has changed his tune and has started his own free poker site to provide a platform for players in the US to legally play poker and win cash and various prizes as a reward for their play. The poker player has really put his money where his mouth is as he is offering at least $100,000 in cash to players every month. When talking about the new site Gold told the press that After Black Friday and all the negativity surrounding online poker, I asked myself what I could do to help our community enjoy playing a game they love legallyCreating FreeGoldPoker.com was the clear answer. He went on to explain just how it was that he came to the he came to the decision to start the completely legal poker site; This is an amazing opportunity for me to create a fun, accessible and unique experience for the poker community. As importantly, I will be able to continue to accomplish meaningful, vital and life-changing charitable goals with the additional support and commitment of the ZEN platform. It will also provide my dedicated partners a platform beyond anything I could have imagined as we are now able to create targeted demographic promotions. There is a great deal of talk around the ZEN network as free poker sites continue to pop up all over the web. The use of sweepstake laws has allowed anyone with the cash to create a perfectly legal space to allow people to play the game that they love. These sites are particularly popular with casinos looking to maintain their clientele with free poker action. The sites serve another purpose, the industry is currently preparing for a change in the law and when online poker is legalised Golds site and all of the others will switch to being regular poker sites and already will have players ready to spend their cash.

Six Hour Heads-Up Battle Ends With German Heinz Winning WSOP Title
Back in July, nine strangers were introduced to one another through their stellar play at the World Series of Poker main event. The November Nine then took a break from the main event tables for several months, and reconvened in Las Vegas this past weekend to finish the biggest poker tournament in the world.Pius Heinz was one of those players that had a dream to become the next main event champion. This week, Heinz completed his journey and became the first player ever from Germany to win the main event. The twenty-two year old Heinz became an instant celebrity when he outlasted Martin Staszko after a six hour battle.Heinz and Staszko’s heads-up match went on for six hours and captivated the followers of both players. The two players exchanged the chip lead several times over the course of play, but it was Heinz who eventually came out on top, taking home almost $9 million for the win. Staszko won over $5 million for his runner-up performance.ESPN helped bring even more exposure to an event that already was the most celebrated poker tournament in the world. The final table having players from seven different countries helped the television audience, as more countries watched the WSOP main event final table than ever before. It is expected that the popularity will continue to grow as online gambling becomes more accepted in the US.Ben Lamb was the top American finisher in the main event. Lamb made it all the way to the three way play, but he busted out just four hands into the new day. Lamb’s elimination set the stage for one of the longest heads-up battles in the history of the main event. The record for a heads-up challenge at the main event was set in 1983, when Tom McEvoy and Rod Peate played for 7.5 hours.Lamb not only won the third place money of over $3.5 million, but he also walked away with the Player of the Year honor. Lamb had himself an impressive WSOP, which ended in shocking fashion when he called an all-in from Staszko while holding only king-jack.

Affiliates are going crazy wondering about their money
by Tuesday,27 Sep 2011 The poker affiliate payments site rakeupdate.com has been defaulting on payments sending ripples though out the industry Just as the Full Tilt Poker scandal seems to finally be wrapping up there is yet another one around the corner. Professional poker players around the world have been using the services of rakeupdate.com for some time now only to find that the firm have been unapproachable for the past month. Despite repeated efforts to contact them players havent managed to get a response from the firm. It has been six weeks since the companys network provider, Elite Affiliate Software stopped providing services to the firm due to non-payment of their funds. There is more than $1 million owed to clients and it doesnt look like they are going to see their money any time soon.Unlike with Full Tilt Poker it looks like personal problems between the owners of the company have led to its downfall. There was a power struggle in the company as to who was ultimately in charge between the two biggest personalities involved, Mike Haid and Daniel Persson, it was Persson who who ultimately won with Haid and several other key employees walking away from the firm. This was a year ago and the service offered by the sites run by the firm immediately suffered. Players are said to have lost massive amounts of money since the firm stopped responding to players requests. In an interesting angle on the events of Black Friday that poker players dont usually hear about, the people at Rake Update also suffered massive problems owing to the fact that the big payment processors pulled out of the United States, they were particularly hard hit when Moneybookers and Neteller walked away from the market. When that happened they had to rely exclusively on gaming firms that were operating in contrast to US gaming laws including almost exclusively Full Tilt Poker. When the CEREUS Network and Full Tilt were taken down by the Department of Justice (DoJ) there were no more funds coming into rakeupdate.com and yet they were still paying out funds to customers. It was inevitable that they were going to implode the question was only the timing, of course none of this was known until later. The effects of this problem are far reaching indeed, although not on the scale as with Full Tilt Poker the ripples have still been sent throughout the industry.

Online Poker is on its way back
by Monday,23 May 2011 Still reeling from the April crackdown online gaming begins lobbying Congress for a change in the law In the wake of the April crackdown on online gaming by US authorities the American Gaming Association (AGA) has begun its lobbying campaign in the US Congress to regulate online poker in the USA. There are plenty of benefits for the US government when it comes to the regulation of online poker and the AGAs support for such regulation serves as a reminder how many US gaming interests would like to get into the online poker market place. The move was announced at a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington DC which was headed by the CEO of the AGA, Frank Fahrenkopf. Several other influential players in the world of online gaming including the President of Boyd Gaming, Keith Smith, The CEO of Ameristar Casinos Gordon Kanofsky and the President of Isle of Capri casino Virginia McDowell were also in attendance. The Associated Press reported Fahrenkopf as arguing that The millions of Americans who are playing poker online deserve to know that they are playing safely, with law abiding operators. Gaming leaders are said to be meeting with various congressmen in the coming days to discuss regulation in detail. The move by the AGA comes while 11 executives in the world of online gaming are under indictment for various charges, including money laundering and fraud. The big three poker sites had their assets and their domains frozen and hundreds of thousands of American poker players are still unable to get access to their funds. This isnt the first time that an attempt has been made to legalise online poker. Senator Harry Reid, representing the state of Nevada attempted to separate online poker from the rest of the online gaming as included in current legislation though his attempt fell flat in Congress. This hasnt stopped the AGA from continuing it the attempt to ensure the legalisation of online gaming in the future. Regulation will see US poker players playing against other players from the US only when they are online. Regulation would also ensure that the US government effectively becomes a partner in the online gaming industry and would take a hefty share of the profits as tax revenue. As it currently stands the world of online poker has lost its major source of players.

Lock Poker is making waves with the Malta LGA
by Sunday,18 Sep 2011 Despite the fact that their logo appears on the Lock Poker website the Malta LGA says they are not affiliated The Poker industry has had more than its fair share of scandals, what with the events of April the 15th or Black Friday and the Full Tilt Poker scandal that rocked the online poker world one would have thought that there have been enough shady goings on to last a life time. Apparently Lock Poker disagree, they are currently in a spat with the Malta Licensing Authority as they have been displaying their logo on the Lock Poker website for some time despite the fact that according to the Maltese gaming authority the appearance on the Lock Poker site of their logo is both false and misleading. After looking into the matter a little more deeply it can be understood where the poker site may have made their mistake. Lock Poker belongs to the Merge Gaming Network which does, in fact, have a category four gaming license that was issued to them by the Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) of Malta. Lock Poker may have assumed that because the network was certified by the LGA then that would extend to them. The LGA have been very forceful in underlining the fact that this is absolutely not the case and the errant poker room are likely to come under massive pressure to remove the logo from both the Maltese authorities and their own network. The precise statement from the LGA was as follows; The Lotteries and Gaming Authority (the Authority’) would like to inform the public that the websitehttp://lockpoker.eu/ has no connection whatsoever with the Authority and therefore any mention of the Authority or licence issued by the Authority on the mentioned website is false and misleading. There isnt much room for interpretation from a statement like this, it is pretty clear what the situation is. The Maltese authority doesnt just have a very loud bark but an extremely tough bite as well. They havent hesitated to suspend and/or cancel the licenses of gaming companies that they have found to be in breach of their own rules. The list of suspended gaming sites is long and illustrious with the Betonbet, Gold Victory, Betchance and many more suspended sites able to vouch for this. Lock Poker are going to have to remove the logo or continue to face the wrath of the Maltese LGA one of the most respected gaming authorities in the world.

The EPL lives up to expectations
by Sunday,4 Sep 2011 It was a massive million dollar prize for the winner of the first EPL tournament The inaugural Epic Poker League tournament is finished with David Chino Rheem now a million dollars richer after fighting his way through a pool of professional poker pros to take the prize money and the title. The tournament took place at the Palms Resort in Las Vegas and featured a final table composed of some of the best poker players around. The top three consisted of Rheem along with the legendary Eric Seidel and the player ESPN rank top in the world, Jason Mercier. Rheem is no stranger to tough competition, he won well over one and a half million dollars for seventh place at the Main Event of the 2008 World Series of Poker (WSOP) and $1.7 million for winning the World Poker Tour (WPT) Five Diamond Classic in 2009. None of these experienced pros put a foot wrong during the final table and it was an incredible 80 hands before the first player was knocked out. At the start of the day, Huck Seed was looking good after doubling his stack but was taken down by Merciers AK. Once Mercier took the lead it was almost impossible to stop him and he went on to eliminate Gavin Smith soon after. It was a coin toss as he went all in pre-flop with 99 only to be called by Merciers pocket Queens which held to see Seed off with a prize of a little over $150,000. It was then that Rheem decided to get into the action and knocked out Hasan Habib. At the start of play Habib had put himself at the top of the tournament but had been steadily bleeding chips on the final table until pushing all in with pocket sixes only to be bested by Rheems pocket sevens. Once down to the final three it was Mercier and Seidel who really went to war, with Rheem largely sitting to one side and letting them get on with it. It was the consummate professional, Seidel who managed to win the battle when he pushed all in with KJ and was called by Merciers 9 8. When the players saw a king on the flop they knew it was all over for Mercier and the last two were heads up. Eventually Rheem took Seidel out with A K against A Q once all the cards were on the board Rheem had a flush, the prize money and the title of champion.
